Obituary of Thomas M. Woods

Schenectady, NY - Thomas Michael Woods, 71, formerly of Schenectady, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023. Thomas was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Ellen M. and Thomas Spiewak and spent most of his life in the city of Schenectady. He proudly served in the US Army from 1971 to 1974. Tom held several jobs throughout his life at Southgate Apartments, Vic Bargain Shop, Friendly's Restaurant, St. Clare's Hospital, General Electric and the Watervliet Arsenal. He is survived by the love of his life, Connie Nethaway Miller, daughter Kandi Woods (Stephen Marra), son Adam Woods, siblings: Charles H. Woods, III, Kathleen A. (John) Simkins, Cynthia I (Harry) Simkins, Christopher S. (Kimberly) Spiewak and Keith J. (Gretchen) Spiewak, sister-in-law Elena Spiewak, granddaughters, several nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Tom was predeceased by his son Jason Woods and brother Daniel K. Spiewak. In the spirit of his generosity, Tom was part of changing people's lives through organ and tissue donation. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:00 pm at St. Luke's Catholic Church, State St., Schenectady. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Tom's service to his county, memorial contributions may be made to "Wounded Warriors Foundation".
