Schenectady - Helen Cargill Evans, 93, passed away on November 17, 2023, after fighting stubbornly against Dementia; now finding eternal peace alongside her father, William (1980), mother, Nellie (1989) and sister, Eleanor (Waddell 2012). Helen was born on February 12, 1930 and raised in Schenectady graduating from Mont Pleasant High School. Helen was a General Electric career employee, working her way up from a typist in the secretarial pool, to Executive Secretary to many GE Executives and finally leading and training in the development of computer database management systems. An avid reader, she was not lost on many subjects from classical music and history, to religion and politics, which she certainly was never at a loss for an opinion, nor afraid to tell you. She enjoyed skiing, family and was very proud of her work at a young age with the Red Cross and in retirement, took up golf and enjoyed the company of many. She is survived by nephews, Rick (Leslie) of Seattle WA., Mike (Debbie) of Port Clinton OH., Jay (Julie) of Mebane NC and a niece, Judy Arnold (Rick) Deshler of OH. A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens, Albany NY, on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made in her name, to the Alzheimer's Association or your local Food Bank.
