Obituary of Catherine Fountain

Catherine "Kate" A. Fountain, 82, of Baker Ave., died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at home after a short illness. Mrs. Fountain was born in Rotterdam the daughter of James and Florence Durrant. She attended the Draper Schools and at one time had worked at the Carl Co. Kate was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Kate is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter A. Fountain. She is also survived by two sons, Walter "Skip" Fountain (Laura) and Gary Fountain, both of Scotia; two sisters, Elizabeth Pratt and Vernice Brennan of Schenectady; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and a sister, Jack, Everett and Kenneth Durrant and Charlotte Becker. Funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 9:45 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church (State and Lafayette Streets), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
