Obituary of Martin F. Quinn

Please share a memory of Martin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Martin “Marty” Quinn, (63), of Schenectady, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 25th, 2024. Marty was a larger-than-life character who was well known for his infectious sense of humor and fun-loving attitude. As a lifelong culinary professional, working in both food sales and as an executive chef, his passing sent shockwaves throughout Capital Region restaurant communities. Additionally, anyone slated to receive one of his famous cakes will be sorely disappointed. Growing up in Schenectady, from an early age, Marty was known for his athletic prowess. Whether it be baseball, basketball, hockey, football, golf, Marty was a competitor. Outside of competition, he was a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Reds and occasionally the Yankees, Giants, Bills, or whoever was hosting the party. Marty spent most of his adult life and raised his children in Saratoga Springs, quickly becoming a fixture at the races. He formed relationships with trainers, horsemen, movers and shakers, gaining access to the most exclusive experiences at the race course. For him, family birthdays, addresses, and phone numbers were all worthwhile numbers on a betting ticket. Marty also had a great love of music. His mind was an encyclopedia of rock and roll lyrics and he always knew someone who could get prime tickets to SPAC concerts. Additionally, many have remarked on his air-guitar capabilities. There is no doubt the spaces Marty so lovingly occupied will be a little colder with him gone. Our stomachs will be emptier, our lives a little less full of laughter, and Canadian Club bottles will be a little fuller. Marty is survived by his partner AnnMarie Kinzel, three sons, Jack (Melissa), Andrew (Abby) and Thomas and granddaughter, Mia Quinn. Additionally, his five siblings, Jack (Sally) Quinn, Pam (Roger) Press, Dennis (Marcy) Quinn, Susan (Bart) Pastiglione, identical twin brother Mark (Christine) Quinn and his many, beloved nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service will be held at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady 7:00pm on Friday, March 1st. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Kidney Fund or The Workers of the Backstretch.
