Ethel Freeman, 78, of Glengary Rd., died Sunday, December 19, 2010, at Ellis Hospital, after a long illness, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Freeman was born and educated in Schenectady, the daughter of Clarence and Mary Cary Hilton. Ethel was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1953 to 1957. She had worked for Arrow Shirt Co. Later she was the operator of Al's Vending Co. Ethel is survived by her husband of 53 years, Elmer L. Freeman. She is survived by two sons, Donald (Michele) Freeman and Richard Freeman, both of Rotterdam; two brothers, Raymond Hilton of Westmere and Herman Hilton of Schenectady; four grandchildren, Danielle, Jared, Richard and Meghan Freeman and many nieces and nephews. Ethel was predeceased by five siblings, Charlie, Richard, James, Leslie and Robert. Funeral service, Thursday morning, 9 a.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours, Wednesday evening, 5 to 8 in the evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Ellis Hospital Foundation, 1101 Nott St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
