Roberta Brunner, 82, passed away Wednesday July 31, 2024, after a short illness at Ellis Hospital.

Roberta was born on March 31, 1942, in Schenectady New York, the daughter of the late Valerie Atkinson and William Rybicki. Roberta was a graduate of St. Columba’s High School, Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington DC, and Union College with a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. Roberta started her working career at GE-KAPL as a computer system operator, and later worked for Mechanical Technology Incorporated in Latham and Siemens/PTI in Schenectady as a Computer Systems and Software Engineer.

Roberta is survived by her life companion David Hicks of Schenectady, her three children Denise (James) Luppa (Brewerton NY), Karen (Bob Bosy) Brunner (Glenville, NY), Michael (Sheena) Brunner (Austin TX), two grandchildren; Danielle Luppa and Joey Luppa (Brewerton, NY) and her sister Nancy Gale (Golden CO). Extended family members include Steven and Jenny Hicks (Clifton Park) and Christine Waller (Glenville) along with grandchildren Calvin, Freddy and Everett Hicks and Elise Waller.

Roberta is also survived by her best friend since kindergarten, Carol Piotrowski.

Roberta was a devoted mother who combined work with raising her three children and supporting their academic and softball, soccer and baseball activities. She was an extraordinary woman who came, saw and conquered it all!

The family would like to thank the staff of Ellis Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their excellent and compassionate care.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday August 3, 2024, at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Cyril’s Cemetery, Rotterdam.
