Obituary of Katherine Lowery

Please share a memory of Katherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Katherine Lucille Lowery, also lovingly known as "Ma Dukes" and "Grammy" passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday October 14th, 2024 at the age of 67. Kathy entered the world on May 29th 1957 and was raised in Rotterdam, NY where she was born. Shortly after falling in love and getting married, she moved to her then husband's childhood home in Ohio where she lived for several years. She then returned to her hometown in New York where she cared for her two children. She worked for the state of New York at the Oswald D. Heck Center in Niskayuna caring for adults with special needs. Health complications caused her to leave her job early in life. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren; she spent countless hours with them and loved every second of it. She loved when the grandkids visited and she could make them special snacks like spicy chicken sandwiches and juice coolers. She especially loved showing her granddaughters how to plant and grow flowers and playing with and beating her grandsons at video games. She loved and looked forward to big family dinners on Sundays at her son’s house where she could spend time with her children and their families. Kathy looked forward to her yearly Black Friday shopping trips with her daughter Bridget and her daughter-in-law Erin. Every year while shopping she would lovingly fight with Erin (who only had sons) over who was going to buy her granddaughters their holiday dresses. Kathy had a passion for gardening; she found great solace and joy in tending to her own garden and house plants as well as those of her family and friends. The past few years, Kathy suffered from Parkinson's dementia; and unfortunately could not remember much of her life. However, her family and close friends will never forget her or her quick wit and sassy sense of humor. They will forever hold their memories of her close to their hearts. Kathy is predeceased by her father Bernard Aunchman and her mother Adele (Bickering) Aunchman. She is survived by her son Paul Lowery and his wife Erin, her daughter Bridget Lowery and her partner Kayson Winters, her brother Bernard Aunchman and his wife Louisa, her brother Paul Whitney, and her sister Marie Baldwin and her husband Terry. Kathy is also survived by her seven grandchildren Paul, Ryan, Isaiah, Gabriel, Curtis, Heaven, Navaiah; and her great granddaughter Ca'Lani. “Ma, we know you're in Heaven's garden, walking with our Lord, doing what you love now and forever more. Plant a seed for each of us; tend the flowers as they grow. This is not good bye; it's see you later, on the day Jesus calls each of us home.” The funeral service will be Tuesday 4 PM at Daly Funeral Home, 242 Mcclellan St. Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service from 3 to 4 PM at the funeral home.
