Scotia, NY - James W. O'Connor, formerly of Schenectady, 86, passed away Monday October 28, 2024.
James was born in Schenectady the son of the late William and Mary O'Connor and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from St. Joseph's Academy and earned his college degree from Siena College. James worked for New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation for many years and later was the Head of the Department of Personnel and Payroll at Our Lady of Hope in Latham, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed Saratoga Racing, trips to the casino, watching Siena basketball, Notre Dame football and NY Yankee baseball. James was predeceased by his wife Joan O'Connor in 2016.
James is survived by his children: Pattia (Bob) Tietz and Robert O'Connor, grandchildren: Robert M. (Alicia) Tietz, William (Samantha) Tietz, Shawn Tietz and Trisha (Adam) Tietz, great-grandchildren: Aubree, Giovanna, Colton, Sam, Nova, Adrianna, Bentley, Adam Jr. and Finnegan.
The funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302. His family will have a reception celebrating Jim's life Saturday November 2, 2024, 1:00 pm at the Rotterdam Elks, Curry Rd., Rotterdam
