Schenectady - Ann Marie Smart, 86, passed away Sunday November 17, 2024.

Ann Marie was a liftlong area resident, born and raised in Rotterdam Junction. She was the daughter of the late Giacomo and Angelina Pistolessi.. As a young woman she worked at GE for several years, then left the workforce to raise her family. Ann Marie then returned to the workforce as the Parish Secretary for St. Margaret of Cortona in Rotterdam Junction, where she worked for thirty years, retiring in 2016. She was a long time communicant of St. Margaret of Cortona and an avid NY Yankee fan. She enjoyed playing bridge and above all loved spending time with family and friends, often hosting parties and preparing Italian dinners at her home. Ann Marie was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Selwyn Smart, who died in 1996.

She is survived by her son William (Lori) Smart, grandsons: Jacob and Joshua Smart, siblings: Vincent Pistolessi and Teresa Pistolessi-Ackner, step-children: Elaine (Paul) Koppel, Jerome Smart and Janet (Mark) Perkins, many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 10:00 am at St. Margaret of Cortona, 1228 Main St., Rotterdam Junction. Interment to follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rotterdam Challenger's Baseball League, PO Box 192, Rotterdam Junction, NY 12150.
