Charlotte Shannon Gallo, 78, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, suddenly, as a result of an accident. Charlotte was born in Schenectady, the daughter of William and Orpha Perkins Ransom. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She had worked for many years as an assistant store manager for the Navy Exchange, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #357 and the president of the Ladies Auxiliary, a volunteer for Vascular Birthmark Foundation and a volunteer at Proctor's Theatre. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Anthony J. Gallo, who died in 1989; a daughter, Sandra Shannon; two brothers and a sister, William and David Ransom, and Shirley Burdick. She is survived by six children, Michael (Christine) Shannon, Robert Shannon, Charles (Deborah) Shannon, Michael Gallo, Patricia Shannon Poyyak and Cheryl (E.B.) Fisher Carole (John) Yezzo a sister-in-law June Ransom; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, and at 10 o'clock at the Immaculate Conception Church, Bradt St., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours on Friday afternoon from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment on Monday morning at 11 o'clock at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation, 2031 Regent St., Schenectady, NY 12309.
