Niskayuna - Mary Jean Ringlehan Garbe, 83, formerly of Regent St., Niskayuna, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, Schenectady. Jean was born in Campbell Hall and was a graduate of the Newburgh Free Academy and Union University School of Nursing at Albany Medical Center, class of 1951. She had worked as a nurse at the Albany Home for Children, Albany Medical Center and retired from Parsons Child and Family Center, as head clinical nurse. Jean was the family historian, a world traveler, an avid gardener and had been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was predeceased by her two husbands, Halbert F. Garbe - they married in 1956, he died in 1991; later marrying William Leadbitter. Jean is survived by three children: Rebecca (Jeff) Brennan-Laird of Winchester, MA, James (Karen) Garbe of Duanesburg and Stephen (Theresa) Garbe of Schenectady; three step-children: Bill, Marcia and Linda; a brother and sister, John Ringlehan and Margaret Ringlehan; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at The Church of Latter-Day Saints. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment, Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
