Obituary of Clemens Garkowski

Clemens J. Garkowski, 94, formerly of Rotterdam, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Kings Way Arms Nursing Home. Mr. Garkowski was born in Schenectady, the son of Michael and Agnes Garkowski, and was a graduate of Draper High School. For many years he worked with his father and brother, Carl; they owned and operated the Maple Shade Dairy. Later he worked for many years for the Jewel Tea Co. as a sales representative. Clemens had been a member of the Rotterdam Kiwanis and a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (formerly Our Lady of Assumption Church). He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Dollee Adamczek Garkowski. She died in 1988. Clemens is survived by his son, Robert (Mary) Hall of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Robert E. Hall of Washington, DC, Kristen Horn of Centerville, VA, and Regan (Joel) Vaughan of Charleston, SC; six great-grandchildren; niece, Judy Ryan; and nephew, Carl Garkowski. Funeral service Monday, 8:45 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Sunday afternoon 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
