Glenville - Mary 'Irene' Gravelle Kennedy, 92, of Van Buren Rd., passed on July 9, 2012, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, after a long struggle with heart disease. She was born and raised in Schuylerville. Irene was predeceased by her husband, James F. Kennedy; two sisters, Muriel Villa Hodsoll and Mona Buell; and a brother, Elmer Gravelle. Irene met her husband at General Electric, where they both worked. She later was employed by the Department of Civil Service of Schenectady County. She was very active at St. Helen's School when her children attended. Irene was a volunteer with the St. Clare's Auxiliary and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed summers spending time at the Edison Club and winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL. She is survived by a son, James J. Kennedy of Glenville; and a daughter, Claudia (Anthony) Torre of Shenectady; grandchildren, Michael Torre, Katie Torre, Michelle (Scott) Weeks and Matthew Torre; great-grandson, Landon Weeks and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Friday morning 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church (Saratoga Rd., Glenville) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. There will be no public calling hours. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Please omit sending flowers. Please say a prayer for Irene. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 1473 Erie Blvd., Schenectady, NY 12305. Arrangements by the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
