Liverpool, NY - Richard "Dick" Hallahan, 95, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Fort Edward, NY and graduated from Clarkson University with a degree in chemical engineering. Dick served in the military, with his beloved younger brother, Jack, as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Services in the American Theater during WWII and received the Victory War Medal. After the war, Dick moved from Schenectady to Long Island where he was employed as an educational and recreational specialist in the Great Neck Public School System for 30 years. After his retirement in 1972, he and his wife, Dorothy, moved to Sparta, NJ and then ultimately to Liverpool, NY to maintain a close connection with their grandchildren. Dick was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and an avid Yankees fan. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Stock) Hallahan; his two children, Richard and Janice; daughter-in-law, Barbara; and son-in-law, Paul also survive him. In addition, he is survived by his loving grandchildren, Jason (Michelle), Katrina and Kevin Hallahan, Lindsey and Kelsey Matousek, and Katey Padden as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be at the Daly Funeral Home from 10:30 to 11:30 on Saturday, January 5th followed by reminiscences and a brief prayer service. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
