Obituary of Viola Hangs

Viola R. Hangs, 83, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011. Viola was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Kramp) Hangs. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and the Crane School of Music at Potsdam University, after which, she taught music in various schools in New York, including the Galway School System. She was a longtime communicant of St. Luke's Parish and a devoted member of the St. Bernardine of Siena Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order into which she was professed in 1988. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Parish, State St., Schenectady. A calling hour will be held Thursday, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Ave., Schenectady.
