Obituary of Jane Hannay

Jane Bridge Hannay Burnt HillsJane Bridge Hannay, 84, of Scotch Bush Rd., died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa, after a short illness. Jane was born in Albany, the daughter of Alfred Thomas and Florence Harrington Bridge, where she attended Albany schools. She had worked for the New York State Employment Office in Albany where she met the love of her life, James B. Hannay. After they married, they lived in the Carman section of Rotterdam, where they started their family. They moved to Chelmsford, MA where they lived for many years. Jane had worked at several jobs, following her interests until Jim retired. In Chelmsford she belonged to the Ladies Elks. After Jim died, she moved to Burnt Hills to be closer to her twin sister, Jean Abbott. Jane loved to entertain family and friends at Camp Twins on the Great Sacandaga. She also enjoyed traveling and bingo. She was predeceased by her husband, James B. Hannay; he died in 2005. Jane is survived by two daughters, Linda Latter of Ranchero Santa Margarita, CA and Susan (Henry) Shatley of Ballston Spa; her twin sister, Jean Abbott of Burnt Hills; four grandchildren, Joseph (Cindy) Latter, Jennifer Latter, Wendi Matilainen and Cindi Record; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the funeral at the funeral home from 11:30 to 12:30. Interment will be in Westerlo Rural Cemetery, Westerlo. Memorial contributions may be made to Maplewood Manor, 149 Ballston Ave., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
