Rexford - Hugh M. Hannon, 72, of Wing Rd., died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Albany Medical Center. He was formerly of Scotia. Hugh was born in Schenectady, the son of Hugh R. and Mildred Frederick Hannon. He was a graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, class of 1959. For many years he was an electrician with local IBEW 1066, retiring in 1987. He was also the owner of the Captain's Cove in Scotia for many years. Hugh was a life member of the Scotia Volunteer Fire Department and had earned the rank of assistant chief. He was a Fifth Degree member of the Knights of St. John Commandry 100, where he earned the rank of major with the uniformed rank. Hugh was a hunter and an outdoorsman and had been a communicant of St. Luke's Church and St. Joseph's Church. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rebecca Paquin Hannon, who died in 1999; a daughter, Michele Petersen; and a brother, Fred R. Hannon. Hugh is survived by his wife of 11 years, Mary Connelly Surowiec Hannon; three children, Mark (Betsy Russo) Hannon, Mary (Richard) Henry and Marcie (David) Walsh; son-in-law, Carl Petersen; a sister, Norine (Frank) Singsheim; seven grandchildren, Mark Hannon, Jr., Sarah and Kathryn Henry, Heidi and Hans Petersen, and Gregory and Heather Culligan; aunts, cousins and nieces and nephews. Funeral services, Saturday morning, 10 o'clock at St. Joseph's Church (State and Lafayette St.) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling Friday afternoon, 4 to 8 in the evening at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 225 Lafayette St., Schenectady, NY 12305 or St. Luke's Church, 1241 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304. Members of the Knights of St. John are requested to meet at the funeral home at 7 Friday evening.
