Obituary of Ernst Hense

Ernst H. Hense, 80, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 while working at home. Ernst was born in Germany, the son of the late Johan and Ann Hense, and moved to the United States as a young man where he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a cabinet maker for many years, most of which were for his brother's company. He was a very active dog owner and trainer, being involved with his Schutzhund Dog Training Club. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jutta and brother, Walter. He is survived by his eldest brother, Fritz Hense; nieces, Brigit Hense and Gabriele (Karl) Salzer, numerous nieces and nephews in Germany, and longtime companion, Maryann Gerstenberger. The funeral service will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
