Dorothy M. Hickey, 84, formerly of Daisy Lane, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Northwoods at Hilltop in Niskayuna. Dorothy was born in Cohoes on May 29, 1925, a daughter of the late William and Josephine (Kolacz) Ryan. She was raised and educated in Schenectady and was a graduate of St. Columba's High School. Dorothy was employed by the Army Depot in South Schenectady and the Watervliet Arsenal where she worked as a supervisor for many years. She retired in 1980. Dorothy was a 50 year active member of the Home Bureau Association and a devout communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was also predeceased by her husband, William Hickey, whom she married in 1949; and a brother, Richard J. Ryan. Survivors include her brother, Edward S. (Carole) Ryan of Rotterdam; nephews, Patrick (Barbara) Ryan, Michael (Michele) Ryan, Edward W. Ryan, David (Emily) Ryan, and Kevin (Mary Ann) Ryan; and many cousins. Funeral service will begin Wednesday morning at 8:15 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, then to St. Paul the Apostle Church, Albany Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady.
