Schenectady - Beatrice H. Higgins passed away peacefully Sunday, December 9, 2012 on her 90th birthday. Beatrice was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Albert and Andree Sharp and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School, class of 1940, and worked for Wallace Co. in Schenectady as a sales clerk in the women's department for many years until the store closed. Beatrice also worked for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance during the early 1980s and ran an antique business in various area flea markets for over 35 years. Beatrice loved reading, art, antiques and gardening and was an avid NASCAR fan. She was also a longtime member of Lisha Kill Reformed Church, Central Ave., Schenectady. Beatrice is survived by her two daughters, Susan J. (Gary) Ingersoll of Syracuse and Marianne (Frank Barone) Higgins-Barone of Amsterdam; two grandchildren, Jessica Sausville of Malta and Ryan Meehan of San Diego, CA; one great-grandchild, Chloe Sausville; sister, Kathleen (Frank) Rosin and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Higgins and her brothers, Herbert and Roger Sharp. The funeral service will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
