Schenectady - Louis R. Hohenshild, 90, of Norwood Ave., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born in Fort Edward, NY and educated in Brooklyn, NY, Louis also served in World War II. He received a Good Conduct Medal as well as Two Battle Stars for his service. Louis worked as a Contractor for 28 years for John Carey. He also worked for the government in Odgen, Utah as well as going into business for himself for about 10 years, retiring in 1990. He was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church. Louis is predeceased by a brother, Edward Hohenshild and a sister, Blanche Waldron. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Clara Sweeney-Hohenshild; two sons, Dennis Hohenshild of the state of Washington and Mark Hohenshild of Schenectady; granddaughter, Bridgette of the state of Washington; brother, Richard of Fort Plain; three sisters, Helen Thompson of Pallentine Bridge, Gloria Grey of Fort Plain and Violet Hohenshild of Florida. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service, Thursday at 12 noon at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. An hour of visitation will precede the service on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
