Richard E. Horton, 79, of Raymond St., died Monday, July 19, 2010, at home after a long illness surrounded by his family. Richard was born in New Bedford, MA, moved to Schenectady as a child and was a graduate of local schools. At one time he worked as a chef at local restaurants, later, general manager and owner of Superior Building Maintenance, retiring in 1992, with 38 years of service. He enjoyed bowling and participated in several leagues. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Richard was predeceased by his first wife, Arlene Campbell Horton, who died in 2004, and is survived by his wife, Joyce Olsen Horton. He is also survived by four children, Deborah and Gordon Murtagh of Rotterdam, Gary and Cheryl Horton of Schenectady, Kimberly and Matt Czyzak III of Fonda and Michael Olsen of Schenectady; ten grandchildren and his beloved dog, Lexy. Funeral service Thursday morning 9 o'clock at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours Wednesday evening 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady or Captial District Dialysis Center, 650 McClellan St., Schenectady, NY 12304.
