Marion Barbara Hunter-Schenectady Marion Barbara (Valley) Hunter, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012, peacefully in her hometown of Schenectady after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Barbara was born in Schenectady on May 6,1919 the daughter of Marion and Raymond Valley. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Barbara married Leonard G. Hunter Sr. on June 4,1941 and was a lifelong homemaker that enjoyed nothing more than making others happy. On May 15, 1942, Barbara and Leonard were blessed by the birth of their son, Leonard G. Hunter II. Barbara and her family spent many years traveling back and forth from their Lexington Avenue home to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1986, Barbara and Leonard moved there permanently. Every day was bright and started with a smile. She could have been staring out the window to see a foot of snow in Schenectady or to gaze at the grapefruit and orange trees in Florida. She wouldn't plow the driveways, but she would pick the fruit and enjoy it with her breakfast. Most of her days were spent chasing after her son and later her grandson who both loved to run around the neighborhoods in Schenectady and fish off the dock in Florida. Barbara loved to knit, sew, and root for her New York Yankees, but most of all she loved her family. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Leonard G. Hunter Sr., (1988); and brothers, Gerald (2006) and James (2004) Valley, all of Schenectady. Barbara is survived by her son, Leonard G. Hunter II (Judy); grandson, Leonard G. Hunter III (Felicia); three great-granddaughters, Lucia, Emmalyn, and Mia Hunter; sisterinlaw, Thelma Valley; a niece, Terry (Howard) Tulver; and a nephew, Todd (Kate) Valley. Funeral service Friday morning 11 a.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours Thursday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association , 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205
