Niskayuna - Norma Pohlman Crookes Jacob, 92, formerly of Cambridge Manor, Scotia, and recently of Wynwood Niskayuna, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2012, at Ellis Hospital. The daughter of Walter and Jessie Setford Pohlman and a native of Amsterdam, Norma was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and Spencer Business School. She was an administrative assistant at Union College for 26 years, retiring in 1985. Norma was an active member of Annie Schaffer Seniors and Scotia-Glenville Seniors and a former member of Schenectady Business and Professional Women. She enjoyed bowling, dance groups and swimming and was an avid Yankees fan. Since 1948, Norma cherished spending time with family and friends at the family's Brant Lake camp. She was a longtime member of Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church. Norma married Raymond E. Crookes on October 26, 1942, and moved to Niskayuna. Raymond died on November 23, 1957. She married Richard J. Jacob on September 22, 1990, and moved to Scotia. He died on February 13, 2008. Norma is survived by her brother, Walter Pohlman of Amsterdam; her son, Richard Raymond Crookes and his wife, Diana of Saratoga Springs; her grandchildren, Jennifer Clark Crookes of Connecticut, and Jeffrey Richard Crookes of Saratoga Springs; her stepdaughters, Joan Hamelin and husband, Bruce of Niskayuna, and Mary Behling and husband, Donald of Tennessee; her step-granddaughters, Michelle Petroff and husband, Michael of Georgia, and Sarah Delaney of Georgia; and step great-grandsons, Dillon and Henry Petroff. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, with interment immediately following at Park View Cemetery. Relatives and friends are also invited to a calling hour at Daly Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday.
