Obituary of Ann Januszewski
Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ann Campana Januszewski, 92, passed peacefully into Heaven Saturday evening, January 23, 2010, with her family by her side. Ann was born on November 11, 1917, the daughter of the late Dominick and Angelina Campana. Ann was educated in Schenectady and worked at General Electric during World War II. As a young lady she taught religious education at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and devoted her entire life to being a wonderful and loving homemaker. Ann was a gentle and kind woman who touched the hearts of those she knew with her loving ways. She judged no one and would always find goodness in people. Her patience and understanding worked wonders with children. Ann was a devout Catholic and thanked God for her long and wonderful life. The simple things in life Ann enjoyed most: a cup of coffee with family or a walk with a friend. Whether an event was great or small, she equally appreciated them and would always say, "I had a good time!" Ann loved to have her shopping days, breakfast at the Colonie Diner, family dinners, and many special trips to Turning Stone Casino. Ann was the dearly beloved wife of the late Edward A. Januszewski, whom she married June 8, 1946. He later died September 26, 1972. Also predeceased by a daughter, Marcella Ann Demarest and her husband, Daniel, who both passed away in 1972; her grandson, D.J. Hwaszcz, who died in 1975, and siblings, Frank, Anthony, Joseph Campana, and Phyllis Rossetti. Survivors include her beloved and treasured daughters, Andrea Stalpinski and her husband, Donald of Niskayuna, Joanne Hwaszcz and her husband, David of Schenectady, and her loving friend (whom she thought of as a daughter), Barbara Pedone; two cherished grandchildren, her "favorite girl and favorite boy", Rene M. Borst and her husband, Stephen of Rotterdam, and David M. Hwaszcz of Colonie, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends from the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, in particular, Esther Tobin. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the relatives who stayed close to her throughout the years, Community Hospice of Albany for their wonderful care shown to Ann, as well as, the special caregivers from the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, then to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pleasant Street, Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a calling hour, prior to the funeral service, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Ann's name to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
