Obituary of Delbert Jones

Delbert O. Jones, 87, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011, at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Delbert was born in Osceola, Iowa, the son of the late Owen and Adith (Page) Jones. He moved to the Schenectady area after serving in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne during WWII. During the years of his military service, he met his wife, Frances (Morrett) Jones; they were married for over 62 years until her passing in 2009. Delbert worked for the Schenectady Housing Authority for many years and later for United Parcel Service, where he retired from. He had also been a member of the Sons of Italy, many years ago. He is survived by his daughter, Michele (Mark) Fragomeni; grandchildren, Michael, Jason and Nicole Fragomeni; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donald and Marion Morrett and Robert and Emily Smith; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great great-nieces and great great-nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Delbert was predeceased by his seven sisters. The family would like to thank the nurses at Ellis Hospital on A-6 and A-4 for the wonderful care given to Delbert. Funeral services will be Thursday, 11:15 a.m. from Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, then to St. Anthony's Church, 331 Seward Pl., Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Ave., Schenectady.
