Obituary of Katherine Jones

Katherine B. Jones, surrounded by her loving family, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 1, 2010, at her home. She was 81 years old. Katherine was born in Schenectady on February 17, 1929, a daughter of the late Anthony and Gertrude Flouton Silaika. She was a lifelong devoted homemaker who greatly enjoyed the company of her family. Katherine was a longtime member of Carman United Methodist Church in Rotterdam. She was an avid gardener and loved playing Bingo. Survivors include her beloved husband, Robert B. Jones, whom she married in 1956; loving son, Steven R. Jones, and his fiancee, Fannie Houck of Rotterdam; siblings, Gertrude Moraski, Richard Silaika, and Alvertine Hood; two grandchildren, Christine and Steven D. Jones; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Katherine was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Robert Silaika. Funeral service Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, with Reverend Kathleen Maker officiating. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, at noon. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
