SCHENECTADY- Richard J. Keenan, 68, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Albany Memorial Hospital. Mr. Keenan was born in Schenectady on February 10, 1943, a son of the late James and Editha Teagle Keenan. He was a graduate of Niskayuna High School, class of 1961 and Siena College where he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science. In 1969 he relocated to Florida where he resided until returning to Schenectady in 1979. Mr. Keenan began his career at Travelers Insurance, where he was employed many years at their Connecticut office. He subsequently worked as an analyst and computer programmer for the Department of Higher Education at the State of New York until his retirement. Mr. Keenan was a member of the Amateur Radio Club and in his leisure time enjoyed riding motorcycles. Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Staub and her husband Jim of Schenectady, and Cyrstal Keenan of Albany; grandson, Jayden; brother, David Keenan of Scotia; niece, Kelly Curtis; and nephew, Brian Keenan. Mr. Keenan was predeceased by his wife, Anne Marie Green Keenan, whom he married in 1980. She died April 1, 1991. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 5 P.M. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home from 4 to 5 P.M. Burial will be held in Most Holy Redeemer, Niskayuna.
