Obituary of David Krause

David W. Krause, 77, of Myrtle Ave., died Friday, May 13, 2011, at home after a short illness. Mr. Krause was born in Albany on April 28, 1934, the son of Peter and Hazel Krause. He was a graduate of the Schenectady Vocational School, graduating as president of his class and won a scholarship to Alfred University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1955 to 1959. David attended Great Lakes Naval Academy, graduated with honors first in his class with a 4.0, was awarded "Honorman" of his company and "Fellowship Sportsmanship and Citizenship and served on the ship sub chaser USS Hamberg. For over 50 years, he worked for Barrett Electric Service Co. and retired from Greeno Industries. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking and was a NASCAR enthusiast. David was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, loving and giving to all. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan Allen Krause and six children, Julie Krause Becker, David, Jr. (Holly) Krause, Jennifer Krause, Steven (Linda) Krause, Daniel (MaryJo) Krause and Christopher (Saundra) Krause; a brother and sister, Peter Krause, Jr. and Pauline Rodd; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Tuesday morning 11:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and 12 noon at St. Luke's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Monday evening from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
