Magdalon M. Kristel, 96, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, after a brief illness. Magdalon was born on December 2, 1914 in Mishawaka, Indiana, the daughter of the late Gentiel and Emma Lannoo. She was predeceased by her husband, George, who passed away on April 15, 2011. She was also predeceased by her stepmother, Zulma Lannoo and her brothers, Raymond and George Lannoo. She is survived by her sister, Elsie DeMeuleare of Mishawaka. Magdalon is survived by her loving sons, Bradley G. Kristel (Carol) of Indianapolis, Melvyn M. Kristel (Barbara) of Rotterdam and Robert L. Kristel, CPA (Janet) of Niskayuna. Survivors also include her precious grandchildren, Randy, Dawn, Sharon, David, Wendy, Kim, Renee, Melvyn, Michelle, Kristine and Robert. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Magdalon (Marge) met her true love, George, while he was attending the University of Notre Dame. They were married on March 30, 1937 and celebrated 74 years of a wonderful marriage in 2011. Marge owned and operated Mayfair Fashions during the 1950s and in 1961 she and George re-opened the landmark Kristel Inn Restaurant on Saratoga Road in Burnt Hills, which had been in the family since 1926. Marge and George operated the business until they retired in 1977. Marge enjoyed cooking and baking and entertaining family and friends at the Kristel Inn. Marge was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception for more than 50 years. The family wishes to thank David Brown and the entire staff at the Ellis Hospital Residential Center and to extend most sincere gratitude to the Reverend Jerome Gingras, for his many visits with Marge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 7, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 400 Saratoga Road in Glenville, with the Rev. Jerome Gingras officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday morning from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery on Kings Road in Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marge's memory to the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville or to a charity of one's choice.
