Stafford, VA - Veronica Olivia Lajeunesse-DeRuscio passed away January 11, 2013. Born in Waterford, NY, she was the loving daughter of Rosario and Sarah Lajeunesse. She graduated from Catholic Central High School, Troy, NY in 1949. Veronica was employed as a secretary by General Electric in the 1950s and retired with 20 years of service from New York State Tax and Finance, Albany, NY in 1995. She was a lifelong parishioner at the former Our Lady of Assumption Church in Rotterdam, NY, of which she was a member of the Rosary Society until she moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1997 to live with her daughter. Veronica moved to Stafford, Virginia in 2004 with her daughter and son-in-law. Veronica enjoyed being surrounded by her family and always looked forward to seeing her four great-grandchildren and delighted in watching them play and loved to color with them. Veronica was very quick witted and always had something funny to say to make everyone laugh in the room. She spent time reading novels in her retirement and her favorite movies were Gone With the Wind and Titantic which she watched over and over. She also loved to keep in contact with her family and friends by letter writing. She enjoyed her 80th birthday with a family and friend get-together in April 2012 at her son's home. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, James DeRuscio, whom she was married to for 33 years; her brothers, Eugene, Wilford, Paul, and Gerard; and her sisters, Florence Hogan and Harriet Warner. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen DeRuscio-Stewart and son-in-law, Ricky of Stafford, VA; and her son, James C. DeRuscio and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Baker-DeRuscio of Fonda, NY. Veronicia is also survived by three granddaughters, Barbara, Joanna and Alicia; and one grandson, Kyle; as well as four great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Walsh of Niskayuna; and two brothers, Francis Lajeunesse of Bennington, VT and George Lajeunesse of Clifton Park, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
