Obituary of John Barner

Schenectady - Our beloved John "Buddy" Barner of Schenectady, passed onto eternal life with the Lord and his loved ones at the age of 81, at Ellis Hospital, after a long illness. He was born in Jersey Shore, PA and was a graduate from Jersey Shore High School, Gallaudet and Idaho Universities. As a very intelligent man and lover of education, he became a well known and respected teacher of the deaf and went on to retire. He is admired in the deaf community and as a devoted Catholic and last but not least, known as a great Dad. He was very well known for his sense of humor and making others laugh. He had a deep love and appreciation for animals and nature. He enjoyed his time with his beautiful granddaughters. John is survived by daughters, Susan (George) Balinda and Jane Barner; sister, Donnie Fryer of California; granddaughters, Brianna, Bethany, Bianca, and Barbara; and nieces and nephews in California and Pennsylvania. Funeral service Monday morning 8:30 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9 a.m. at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church (formerly Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Rd., Schenectady). Calling hours Sunday afternoon 4 to 6 in the evening. Interment Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
