Scotia - Richard L. Lasher, Sr., 83, of First St., died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at home. Richard was born in Westport, the son of Leo and Emelia Frederick Lasher. He attended Schenectady Public Schools and was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for General Electric Co. as a machinist, retiring in 1991 with 43 years of service. Richard was a volunteer firefighter and auxiliary policeman in Scotia. He was an outdoorsman, loved fishing and hunting with relatives and friends and was a member of the Guan Ho Ha Gun Club. He was a member of the VA Association and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He is survived by three children, Richard L. Lasher Jr., Jeffrey Lasher and Michele Pattee; a brother, Francis Lasher; five grandchildren, Shannon Lasher Young, Lauren and Alicia Lasher, and Olivia and William Pattee; cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral service Saturday morning, 8:15 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church (State and Lafayette St.) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Friday evening, 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 225 Lafayette St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
