Annjane Lighthall, 96, passed away, peacefully, Saturday December 24, 2011 at her home. Annjane was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Henry and Nellie Lighthall, and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School, earned her bachelor's degree from St. Rose, and went on to earn her master's degree from Columbia University. Annjane was an art teacher for more than 35 years at Central Park Middle School in Schenectady, a job which she was passionate about. She enjoyed traveling abroad as well as to New York City, Montreal and Lake George. Annjane collected dolls and was an avid swimmer. She is survived by her grandnephew, Thomas Michael (Carol) O'Brien; great-grandnephews, Michael (Lisa) and Timothy O'Brien; grandniece, Roberta Canavan; goddaughter, Mary Beth Williamson; "granddaughters," Astrid Rodriguez and Graciela LaPoint; "great-granddaughter," Tatiana Medina; and devoted feline companion, Mary. She was predeceased by her siblings, Eleanor, Raymond, Paul and Mary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Friday at St. Helen's Church, 1803 Union St., Schenectady. Interment in Vale Cemetery. In Annjane's memory, contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302
