Obituary of Rudolph Lungreen

Rudolph G. Lungreen, 91, of Crawford Rd., died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at home. Rudy was born in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, moving to the Schenectady area many years ago. He was a World War II veteran. Rudy was a postal carrier for many years before retiring. He then worked for New York State in the Worker Compensation Department for several years before retiring. He and his wife, Dorothy, through the years fostered 115 children, providing care for infants to teenagers. Rudy was a life member of the Knights of St. John Commandry #100. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Farry Lungreen, whom he married in 1950, she died in 2009; and he was also predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Labutta. Survivors include son, Joseph Lungreen; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service Saturday morning, 8:30 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc. 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church (State and Lafayette St.) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Friday evening 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
