Margaret L. Marczewski, 77, of Pleasant Street, passed away Wednesday evening, June 3, 2009, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Margaret was born in Schenectady to the late Stanley and Margaret Van Wormer. She moved to Voorheesville in 1997. Margaret graduated from Ellis School of Nursing in 1952, receiving the first scholarship the school had to offer. In 1953, Margaret moved to New Orleans with her friend, Mary Spinelli. She worked with Dr. Oxner for about a year in one of the first recovery rooms in the United States. She returned to Schenectady and resumed employment at Ellis Hospital where she worked intermittently for 34 years. Margaret also worked for ten years as a school nurse at Paige and Pleasant Valley Schools in Schenectady. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Marczewski of Voorheesville, Catherine (David) Berschwinger of Voorheesville, and Lorraine (Michael) Bennett of Glenville; six grandchildren, Tara Butler, Jen (Roger) DaSilva, Megan Marczewski, Brielle Forrest, Jessica and Joe Berschwinger; four great-grandchildren, Ashley (Butler), Christopher, Kayliana and Austin DaSilva (Marczewski); and her former husband, Carl Marczewski. Margaret was predeceased by her son, Christopher Marczewski; her sisters, Rose and Mary; and brother, Stanley. Funeral service, Tuesday morning, 8:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, then to St. Luke's Church, State Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer, Troy Road, Niskayuna.
