Obituary of Ralph Mareno

Ralph A. Mareno, 84, formerly of Rosa Rd., died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center, after a long illness. Ralph was born in Mechanicville and resided in Schenectady most of his life. He was a custodian for the Schenectady Public Schools, mostly working at Van Corlear School, retiring several years ago. Some of Ralph's favorite pastimes included golf, bowling, the Saratoga track, the racino, trips to Atlantic City, family vacations in Maine, Sunday family meals, and was a passionate Red Sox fan. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Gorzynski Mareno in 2010; they married in 1947. He was also predeceased by his son, Richard Mareno. Ralph is survived by three children, Ralph (Linda) Mareno of Ballston Lake, Carol (Michael) Caruso of Schenectady, and Joseph (Debbie) Mareno of Luftkin, TX; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Mareno of Schenectady; three siblings, Concetta Ford of Mechanicville, Mary Masters of Glenville, and John Mareno of Schenectady; nine grandchildren: Shelley, Richard, Michael, Steven,Teresa, Christopher, Angela, Jeremy, Zachary, Brittany and Jeffery; five great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Mia, Mikayla, Matthew and Cullin; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Anthony and Frank Jr. Funeral service, Wednesday morning 8:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Tuesday evening, 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
