Robert Barry Obituary

Robert H. Barry, 80, of McClellan St., passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, October 6, at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, he was a lifelong resident working as a truck driver for A J Eckert in Albany for many years before retiring. Robert was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's Academy. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Kornacki Barry, whom he married in 1950; six children, Pamela Barry of Schenectady, Kathleen Hilliard of Rockport, MA, Barbara Vergine of Schenectady, Christopher Barry of Palm Coast, FL, Bridget Nero of Ormond Beach, FL, Paula Paolucci of Clifton Park; eight grandchildren, John Knapp, Jacqueline Knapp, Tracy Stewart, Chad Vergine, Noelle Hilliard, Nicholas Hilliard, Robert Barry and David Barry. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Stewart and Alyssa Knapp; and a brother, Lawrence Barry and his wife, Linda. Robert was predeceased by a son, Mark Barry; and a brother, David Barry. A memorial service will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211. The Barry family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Ellis Hospital A6 for their care and kindness given to Robert in his time of illness. Arrangements are by the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St.
