Lillian Josephine Marzitelli, of Colonie, died after a short illness at the Ellis Hospital on Thursday December 24, 2009. Lillian was born in Charlton, New York, on November 24, 1917 and was the daughter of the late Mary and Frank Hance. Lillian had a multifaceted career in the medical profession which included her extensive work in nursing, laboratory technology, and part time work as a medical secretary. Lillian received many distinguished awards in nursing through the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company in her later years for which she provided private duty nursing with such notable patients including William D. Coolidge (inventor of the X-ray machine) and was asked to provide for the care of the late mother of President George H.W. Bush of Connecticut. Lillian died at the Ellis Hospital where she was once employed. Lillian was a longtime devoted parishioner of Christ Our Light Catholic Church (formerly St. Francis DeSales). In addition to the training in her nursing, she was also a graduate of the Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady. Lillian Hance Marzitelli was the loving wife of the late George Anthony Marzitelli, to whom she was married for 53 years before he died in 2002. Lillian is survived by her three sons, Ronald D. Marzitelli of Niskayuna, Thomas S. Marzitelli of Clifton Park, and Douglas Marzitelli of Albany; and her grandsons, Gabriel Anthony and Alexander Ryan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral service, Wednesday morning, 8:30 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, and 10 at Christ our Light, formally St. Francis DeSales Church, Loudonville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Ct., Loudonville, NY 12211.
