Colonie - Nicholas J. Mastracchio Sr. of Colonie, NY, born March 3, 1920 passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospice on May 4, 2012. He served in World War II in the 9th Armored Infantry in Europe. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. He worked for White Motor Company in various management positions with them and the predecessor, REO Motors from the end of World War II until he retired. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bertha Rajsky Mastracchio; his son, Nicholas J. Mastracchio Jr. (Jane) of Marco Island, FL; his daughter, Valerie Rivera (Dominick) of Niskayuna, NY; and his son, Steven Mastracchio of Amsterdam, NY; and grandchildren, James Mastracchio of Fairfax, VA, Linda Cox of Roseboom, NY, Susan DiCaprio of Coral Springs, FL, John Mastracchio of Niskayuna, NY, Lisa Wittman of Manassas, VA, Karrie Diacetis of Albany, NY, Melissa Mastracchio of Cincinnati, OH, and Jonathan Malek of Denver, CO; his brother, Joseph Emmerich of Hialeah, FL; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 8:15 a.m. from Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady then to St. Helen's Church, Niskayuna, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Calling hours will be Monday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
