Obituary of Dorothy Matthews

Dorothy C. Matthews, 96, of Scotia, died Friday, December 10, 2010, at the Dutch Manor Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Matthews was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and was educated in Lincoln, Nebraska, and moved to the Schenectady area in 1934. She lived in Booth Bay Harbour, ME, for 13 years, moving back to Scotia. She was an assembler at the General Electric Co. for many years before retiring in 1970 and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Dorothy was married to Alvin G. Matthews; he died in 1992. She is survived by two nieces, Leonora (Pieter) Westervlet and Norene (John) Helms; and many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Santone and Vivian Loro. Interment will be held in the spring at Viewland Cemetery, Rotterdam. Arrangements are by the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
