Obituary of Robert McGowty

Robert `Bob' J. McGowty, 73, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born and educated in Schenectady. He was the son of Edward and Etta Dexter McGowty. He worked for New York State Department of General Services for 38 years, retiring in 1995. Bob was a past chief of the Pine Grove Fire Department, was an avid NY Giant's and NASCAR fan and was a former member of the Civil Defense Underwater Recovery Team. He enjoyed bowling, golf and loved family trips to Maine. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Costello) McGowty, his son, Michael E. McGowty, his brother Richard McGowty and son-in-law, Tom Pustolka. He is survived by his children Ron (Marie) McGowty, Diane Pustolka and Christine McGowty; daughter in law Jan McGowty; constant companion Micki Bennett and grandchildren, Jason, Mark, Paige, Tommy, Emily, Dan, Art, Bethany and Maria and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Monday evening 6 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc. 242 McClellan St. Schenectady. Calling hours Monday afternoon 4 to 6 p.m. in the evening at the funeral home.
