George F. McKim "Doc", 91, of Rotterdam, passed away at home Wednesday, March 3, 2010, with his family by his side. Born February 11, 1919 in Plattsburgh, the son of James H. and Sadie Farley McKim. He was raised in Port Henry, residing many years in the Schenectady area. Mr. McKim had worked for many years at the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in 1980. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II, he was called to active duty during the Vietnam War retiring from the U.S. Air National Guard. "Doc" was a proud 62-year member of the American Legion Post 1092. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Leta Congdon McKim. She died April 11, 2006. Mr. McKim is survived by four sons, Kevin (Irene) McKim of Sherman Oaks, CA, Brian (Debbie) McKim, Craig McKim and Brett McKim, all of Rotterdam; a brother, Robert McKim; nieces, Carol Jennings, Carol Baxter, Sylvia Ebbon; and sister-in-law, Mildred (C. Fred) Dealy. At George's request the funeral is at the convenience of the family with burial in the Spring in Port Henry. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St., Schenectady, NY 12304 or the American Legion Post 1092, 1809 Union St., Niskayuna, NY 12309.
