Walter Medwar - Niskayuna Walter Medwar, 83, of Daisy Ln., died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, suddenly at home. Walter was born in New York City, he was the son of Michael and Katherine Bib Merwa. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. Walter worked as a sales supply specialist for Westinghouse Electric Corp. in New York City, P.N. Thorpe and Co., Inc. in New York City and Fluid Handling Systems Inc. in Secaucus, NJ. He was a lifelong sports fan, especially of his New York teams. Walter distinguished himself playing baseball in the Army and for Westinghouse. Introduced to golf at Peach Lake in 1953, he was hooked for life. For most of his life he lived in Long Island City before moving to Schenectady in 2006. He will be remembered as an individual in a man's body with a kid's heart and a desire to play a kid's game with great love. He is survived by his sister, Gloria Doerner of E. Islip; and brotherinlaw, Roy J. Pollock of Niskayuna; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his sisters, Ann Abbate, Olga Nagy, Pauline Pollock, Helen Satewicz, Jean Huling Whitehead; two nephews and a niece, Robert Huling, Ruth Anne Pollock and Harry M. Abbate. Funeral service private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Daly Funeral Home.
