Sara J. Murray, 96, formerly of Daisy Lane, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Glendale Nursing Home. Mrs. Murray was born in Trauger Town, PA. She was the daughter of the Rev. Alexander and Helen Pukan Harpas. Sara and her eight sisters moved many times due to their father's church assignments. She had lived in New York City for several years before moving to the Albany-Schenectady area. She met George Murray at the World Bank of Canada in New York City, later marrying on November 28, 1942; he died in 1964. Sara worked for the New York State Assembly as a stenographer, retiring in 1977. For many years, she was a member of the Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church. Sara will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Murrary is survived by three children, Georgiana Murray and Louise (Ed) LaBombard, both of Niskayuna and George (Lee Talaia) Murray of Cooperstown; two sisters, Olga Ruth and Martha Zapotocky, both of Edison, NJ; three grandchildren, Edward J. (Ruth) LaBombard IV, Manique Talaia-Murray and Stephanie Talaia-Murray; two great-grandchildren, Evangeline and Edward J. LaBombard V; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six sisters. Funeral service Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours, Monday, 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment, Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 421 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 or Community Hospice, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308. Sara's family would like to thank the staff at Glendale Nursing Home, especially those on C-2. Special thanks to Sadie Williams and Sara's best friend, Debbie Tasselmyer. Joan Nicole Prince House and Community Hospice of Schenectady provided continued support, keeping Sara's spirits up, for which her three children will always be grateful. Sara was surrounded by many kind and loving special people; their support helped Sara to continue to be a gentle, loving woman, whose strength and determination inspired all who love her.
