Jane M. Nicolella, 76, of Marriott Avenue, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at the Ellis Hospital McClellan Campus. Jane was born April 24, 1933 in Troy, a daughter of the late William and Katherine Trumpler Gunn. She was raised and educated in Schenectady and was a graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School. During the early 1950s Jane worked for General Electric's R & D as a tracer. Aside from her years at G.E., she devoted her life to being a wonderful homemaker. While raising her family, she was a freelance artist and verse writer. Poetry, gardening and most especially, taking care of family, were what mattered most to Jane. She will be fondly remembered for her love and kindness to her family and friends. Those who knew Jane best would go to her for their intentions and prayers. She blessed many people with her special ways. Predeceased by her son-in-law, Gerd Guendel; siblings, Robert Gunn, Caryl Connelly, Nancy Koller and Madge Burns. Survivors include her beloved husband, Joseph Nicolella, whom she married November 7, 1953; three loving daughters, Madge Schrom and her husband, George of Niskayuna, Diane Guendel of Clifton Park, and Kristine Croce and her husband, Richard of Niskayuna; four dear grandchildren, Collette Croce, Erin Croce, Louis Croce, and Hanna Jane Guendel; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Daly Funeral Home Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Jane's name to the Upstate New York MGFA (Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc.), Attention Dave Harris, 1115 Lexington Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12309
