Genevieve M. Nigriny, 89, formerly of Brandywine Ave., died Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at the Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center, Scotia. Genevieve was born in Schenectady, the daughter of Henry and Genevieve Blaser. She was a graduate of St. Columba High School. Genevieve had been a secretary for the New York State Department of Conservation, retiring many years ago. She had been a communicant of St. Columba Church and was a communicant of St. Luke's Church. She was predeceased by her husband, William C. Nigriny; a son, William H. Nigriny; and her brother, John Blaser. Genevieve is survived by two children, Cora (Jack) Butt- ridge and John (Regina) Nigriny; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Blaser. Funeral service Friday morning, 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center, 297 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia, NY 12302. Genevieve's family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center for the care and kindness given to their mother.
