Niskayuna - Mary Patricia (Glavin) O'Brien passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 after a long illness. Born October 29, 1936, Pat was the second child of Dr. James E. Glavin, MD and Cecilia (Martin) Glavin of Port Henry, NY. A devout and committed Catholic, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton, ME and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lake George, NY. Pat touched many young lives teaching church school. Pat was a homemaker and was committed to her family. She held a bachelor's degree from The College of Saint Rose, teaching in the Queensbury Union Free School District in the 1950's. Pat was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Anne; and brother, Michael. Pat is survived by a colorful bouquet of grandchildren that she loved and adored, Jessica, Joe, Abbey, Allison, Chad, Ian, Devin, Jack, Taylor, Erin, Clare, Josh, Eamon, and Seamus; her children, and their spouses, Mary and Mark, Bill and Leslie, Tim and Connie, Cullen and Kathy, Tom and Jessica, Megan and Jim, and Patrick. In addition, she wassurvived by her siblings, Peggy, James, Joe, Judy, Edward, Thomas, David, and Kathy. Services shall be held at the convenience of the family. The family wants to thank the staff of Kingsway Arms Nursing Home for their kind and gentle care for Pat during her time there. It was a comfort knowing she received greatsupport and affection. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in remembrance of Pat O'Brien at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, 333 Kings Road, Schenectady, NY 12309.
