Newark, DE - Edith Picazio, 98, of Schenectady passed away peacefully into our Lord's loving arms Saturday, April 7 in Newark, Delaware. Edith was the loving wife of the late Theodore Picazio. She was one of the early graduates of Oneonta College, earning a bachelor's degree in special education and beginning her teaching career in Amsterdam. Edith was a dedicated member of St. Helen's parish, belonging to the Altar Society and was a Eucharistic minister for many years. She was also an active volunteer in many Schenectady community organizations such as St. Clare's Auxiliary. Her love of flowers was manifested in her participation in the Fleur de Lis Garden Club. Edith and Theodore were faithful partners in the success of the Stanton & Ouderkirk Wholesale Company in Schenectady. Edith loved to express herself in many artistic ways, especially baking, sewing, gardening, and ballroom dancing. The value of family, traditions and the never ending love of our Lord are the priceless gifts she left to her children. Edith will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Gwendolyn Picazio, Marilyn Tokarsky, and Rosalyn Johnson; her six grandchildren, Christa, Greg, Matthew, Andrew, Timothy and Anne; as well as five greatgrandchildren. Her unending love, caring, and guidance will be remembered by all those she touched. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helen's Church on Union St. in Schenectady on Wednesday, April 11 at 9:30 a.m.There will be a viewing at 8:30 a.m. in the church preceding the Mass. Interment will be in the Most Holy Redeemer, Niskayuna, NY. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice Unit at St Francis Hospital, 701 N Clayton St., Wilmington, DE 19805.
