Obituary of Assunta Piche'

Assunta 'Sandy' Barone Piche, 73, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 15, 1937, in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie (Sidoti) Barone. Sandy was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and lived in Schenectady for many years. She worked as an insurance agent for several companies throughout the years, retiring from Electric Insurance Co., in 1990. She moved to Debary, FL, and returned to Schenectady in 2010. Sandy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing her cooking skills, bird watching and squirrel chasing. Sandy loved and married Bob Piche, on May 1, 1989. After 16 years of marriage, Bob passed away on April 8, 2006; and her sister, Patricia McCardle also predeceased her. Sandy is survived by her son, Mitchell (Terry) Hutchins of Colonie; daughters, Liana (Terry) Colleton of Ballston Lake, and Wendy Teller of Schenectady; stepsons, Robert (Nancy) Piche of Albany, Richard (Nancy) Piche of Loudonville; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, William McCardle; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to all of Sandy's caregivers, especially her granddaughter, Nikki (Hutchins) Mack; daughters-in-law, Terry Hutchins, Peg, Kim, Ally, Krissy; brother-in-law, Bill; all Florida friends, Lois, Sue and family, Kim and Gary; hospice and staff, Dr. Goodman and staff, Dr. Lopez and staff, Florida doctors and staff, Long Pond Village Apts. and staff. Thank you all for the wonderful care, kindness and compassion everyone gave, we are truly grateful. A graveside service will be held at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery, Giffords Church Rd., Rotterdam, on Saturday, July 16, at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308. Arrangements by the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
